Weaning
Newton Stud offers to mare and foal owners the opportunity to bring foals to Newton Stud for weaning. Foals are weaned into small groups of other foals of a similar age in order to make the whole process as stress free as possible (for both the owners and their foals!) and allow them to grow, communicate and interact with others.

Youngsters
We realise that for owners of individual foals or youngsters the horses themselves miss out on the very important interaction with other horses and often become over reliant on humans. As a result we have decided to offer livery for youngsters from weaning to 3/4 years old when they are ready to embark upon their ridden careers.

Housing / Grass
During the winter all the horses are kept in light, airy barns with deep straw bedding and very importantly free access to hay in specially designed feeders and mineral licks formulated to our own specification by a fully qualified and experienced Equine Nutritionist. In the summer all horses are out on well maintained pasture rotated with other livestock and crops as part of our farming operation. This means that the horses are never on 'horse sick' paddocks and the worm burden is kept as low as possible. Most fields also have access to woodland for shade and shelter and natural water such as streams and large ponds allowing the horses to move around as they wish.

Price
We are able to offer this service at a very reasonable cost and usually cheaper than owners can keep the horses themselves! Livery includes all water, bedding, forage and mineral supplements such as Top Spec No 3 and / or mineral licks. (All horses are vaccinated against Flu and Tetanus, wormed regularly and attended by the farrier when necessary - this is at the cost of the owner.)
