Newton Stud is extremely fortunate to have the services of Jai Bratton, Grand Prix dressage rider and trainer and with his wealth of experience and knowledge he is a very important part of our team.

Jai trained for two years with Judy Harvey (International Judge on the Olympic Team Selection Committee) before moving to Germany to work for Herr Jurgen Koschel who, at the time, was Holland's Dressage Team trainer for the Sydney 2000 Olympics. On Herr Koshel's advice, he went to work at the most prestigious and successful young horse sales in the world - Performance Sales International (PSI) in Germany. Here he 'prepared' and 'backed' young horses for the auction sales and also trained the more advanced horses. Wanting to work at a more intimate level Jai moved to a smaller yard, in Holland, to work for the Olympic Rider and Coach, Bert Rutten. Through very clever training and with superb 'feel' Bert could train any horse to Grand Prix and during his time there Jai felt that he was in the presence of a 'true Horse Master' not once seeing him 'take a backward pull' with any horse no matter how unruly. Jai then moved to 4 times Olympic Rider Anna Van Olst's yard where he prepared and rode horses for the ESI auction and trained international client's horses. After this Jai wanted to return to England where he began working for Louise Woof inventor of the well-known Woof Boot.

Jai is enthusiastic, articulate and has a good sense of humour which combined with his experience makes him an extremely popular and successful trainer.

A new 20m x 60m arena is planned for 2008 and Jai will be available for training at Newton Stud when this is completed. Jai is also available for clinics and is happy to travel to client's yards for training subject to distance and the number of horses.
